The lodge is located in Ruhengeri region at the base of Virunga Mountain and only 2km away from the Volcanoes National Park headquarters.
Gorilla Nest Lodge is located in a stunning rural setting and preferably located to the national park headquarters for every morning’s enrollment process. There is no power in Kinigi, so the lodge operates a generator.
Every public room overlooks green gardens and a semicircle of 20 double rooms and 2 suites. The rooms all look outwards into the Eucalyptus woodland, pyrethrum farms and shambas (ranches) beyond.
Gorilla Nest Lodge is well built, however utilitarian: with grass thatched rooftops in traditional Rwandese style – not the “rural luxury safari” style of East and Southern Africa.
Adjacent is a traditional Rwandese homesteads for tourists to visit in their leisure time or after Gorilla trekking.
