Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer To Volcanoes National Park
Meet at the hotel in Kigali or at the airport, transfer to the city for a tour to genocide memorial museum before proceeding to Parc National des Volcans; home of gorillas. Settle in Sabyinyo Silverback lodge, Virunga Lodge, Mountain Gorilla View Lodge, Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge, Hotel la palme, Muhabura hotel or Kinigi guest house as we wait for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: First Gorilla Trek and Community walk
Early morning set off for gorilla tracking in Volcanoes National park. Gorilla Trekking through the light mountain forest of the Virunga is a wonderful lifetime experience. Sight and stay with these giant apes is one hour. Return to the Lodge for Lunch, take an afternoon walk to nearby cultural villages. Some gorilla families, however, are elusive, and tracking can take a full day, especially when it is wet and muddy. Time permitting, we can take an evening community walk to Musanze local market and interact with local people, overnight at your previous lodge as we wait for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Second Gorilla Trek, Nature walk
This is your opportunity to see gorillas the second time in Rwanda’s spectacular Parc National des Volcans. You can visit the same or different gorilla family from the previous day. In the evening, we can take a walk to the beautiful twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo. All meals and overnight at your previous lodge.
Day 4: Third Gorilla Trek, another community walk
Wake up early for another gorilla trek still in Rwanda. In the evening, we can take another walk to nearby cultural villages.
Day 5: Golden Monkey Tracking Or Mount Bishoke Hiking, or Hike to Dian Fossey Tombs and Leave For Kigali (2hrs)
Have breakfast at the hotel and proceed for another adventurous trek to visit golden monkeys in Volcanoes National Park. Alternatively, we can explore Musanze caves or Dian Fossey Gravesite or Mt. Bishoke hiking. Retire for lunch and transfer back to Kigali where the tour ends.
