Detailed Itinerary
Day 1, Arrival in Kigali – Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
On reaching Kigali airport, you will receive a warm welcome from our safari guide who will brief you about your safari in Rwanda, and thereafter, transfer to Volcanoes National Park (Home of mountain gorillas), the journey will take you through the rolling hills of Rwanda with a clear view of the Virunga mountains. Check in at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge, Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge, Virunga Lodge, or Kinigi Guest House for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Gorilla Tracking
Breakfast and transfer to the Volcanoes headquarters for a briefing on the dos and don’ts when with the Mountain gorillas. You will also be allocated a Gorilla group, and you will penetrate deep into the forest to search for these rare Mountain Gorillas. Prepare to enjoy the view of these great apes, see them swinging in the tree, mature ones breastfeeding their young ones, while the silverbacks provide security to the entire group. You can take as many pictures as you want and then, after this, return to your lodge for lunch, and in the afternoon, you will visit the twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo. This will offer you stunning panoramic views of the volcanic mountains. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight as on day one.
Day 3: Golden Monkey tracking and transfer to Lake Kivu
Have a hearty breakfast and report for a briefing at the headquarters for another briefing before setting off for the Golden monkey trekking in the jungle forest. Return to the lodge for lunch; relax as you prepare for the transfer to Lake Kivu. Upon arrival, you can relax at the beach or take a swim in this fresh, bilharzia–free lake. Enjoy the view of Lake Kivu from the shore, and make sure to capture it in full. Dinner and overnight stay at Lake Kivu Serena Hotel /Paradise Malahide Hotel / Stipp Hotel (FB)
Day 4: Boat trip and transfer back to Kigali
Breakfast at the accommodation and then take a 2-3 hour boat cruise along the Lake to visit the nearby Island or to the hot springs. The cruise will offer you spectacular views of the towns of Kibuye and Gisenyi. Return for lunch and after, take a short tour around the fishing villages. Later, you will transfer to Kigali city for dinner and an overnight stay at Hotel Chezlando/Step Town Motel/Kigali Serena Hotel.
Day 5: Kigali City and Departure
After breakfast, you will have a short city tour and visit the Genocide Memorial sites, the city center, and the local markets, plus the craft shops. Later, you will be transferred to the Airport for your flight back home.
