Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up & travel to Kibale National Park
After breakfast, transfer to Kibale Forest national park in preparation for the chimpanzee tracking the following day. The journey goes through small trading centers and villages, arrive in Fort portal by afternoon, lunch and proceed for overnight at Chimpanzee Guest House / Kyaninga lodge / Chimp Nest Lodge / Primate Lodge Kibale.
Day 2: Chimps Tracking and travel to Queen Elizabeth Park
Early morning breakfast and then trek the Kibale Forest to search for Man’s closet cousins the Chimpanzees. The forest is also home to other primates like grey-cheeked mangabeys, baboons and vervet monkeys. In the afternoon, you will transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park, dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge/ Enganzi Lodge / Bush Lodge.
Day 3: Wild Game Drive and Launch Cruise on Kazinga Channel
After breakfast, enjoy a morning game drive along Kasenyi track to see the herds of Buffalo, Elephant, Warthog and Lions. After lunch, go for a launch cruise along the Kazinga channel, this is the highest concentration of hippos in Africa, with huge Nile crocodiles, 611 bird species and many Elephants & Buffaloes seen basking along the shores, then in the evening go back to your lodge for dinner & overnight.
Day 4: Depart for Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
After breakfast, drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, going through Ishasha sector viewing the tree climbing lions alongside other animals like elephants and antelopes, dinner and overnight at Mahogany Springs / Gorilla Mist Lodge / Wagtail Eco Lodge.
Day 5: Gorilla Tracking Experience
This is your day for the gorilla trekking in the Bwindi Forest – an experience of a life time and worth encountering! Time permitting; take a nature walk to local communities like the Batwa pygmies, or cultural entertainment in the evening, dinner and overnight at your lodge on DAY 4.
Day 6: Drive to Lake Bunyonyi
After breakfast, drive through the famous Kigezi region, also known as the Switzerland of Africa to the beautiful lava dammed lake of Wonders, Lake Bunyonyi, after lunch, take a canoe ride on the lake, or a boat ride to different islands and enjoy the scenic beauty of the place, with excellent birding, or visit the Batwa people (pygmies) on boat, overnight at Arcadia cottages.
Day 7: Departure (Kampala or Kigali)
We either transfer back to Kampala / Entebbe Airport (7hrs drive) with enroute stop at the Equator for photographs or cross Katuna boarder to Kigali International Airport in Rwanda (3hrs). We can visit Gisozi genocide memorial in Kigali in case your departure flight is in the evening.
