Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Murchison Falls.
Transfer to Murchison national park through Luwero town, lunch in Masindi town, You may travel to the top of the falls and wander art the lovely site of the beautiful Murchison Falls. You will stay at Paraa safari lodge.
Day 2: Game viewing and boat cruise to the bottom of the falls
Wake up early for a cup of tea/coffee, then proceed for a game drive in search of early risers and predators returning to their hideouts. Expect an encounter with animals like Elephants, Buffaloes, Giraffes, African Lion, Leopard, Jackson’s hartebeest, Uganda Kob, lions, waterbuck, buffalos, oribi, and baboons moving through the lovely savanna grasses among others.
Retire for late/full breakfast, relax at the poolside as you wait for lunch, later head for a launch trip on the river Nile; here you will be treated to a lovely view of the Murchison falls and hippos, crocodiles, waterbuck, elephants playing in water and various water birds which are a major attraction. Look out for African fish eagle, goliath heron, malachite kingfisher and shoebill stork. You can go up the falls once again. Late evening return to Paraa safari Lodge.
Day 3: Chimp Tracking in Budongo Forest
Early morning head to Budongo forest (known for a diversity of ecology) for chimp trekking. See our closest relatives (800 chimps population) and see what you can learn from them. There are also other primates such as the vervet monkeys, blue and red tailed monkey, potto, black and white colobus and baboons. The evening is free for us to relax at Paraa safari lodge.
Day 4: Transfer to Kibale National Park
Kibale Forest is home to 13 primate species. The journey goes through beautiful Butiaba Escarpments and Albertine Rift, Check-in art Mountains of the moon Hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Chimp trekking in Kibale Forest & afternoon nature walk to Bigodi swamps
Early morning after taking a cup of tea, you will proceed to Kanyanchu to track chimps and other primates within the forest. Compare and contrast between the chimp’s behavior and humans and discover a lot! Also, check out the grey checked mangabey, L’Hoest monkey, red-tailed monkey and the vervet monkeys. In the afternoon, transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park (4 hrs). Lunch at Chimp Nest Restaurant, after which we proceed for a fantastic nature through Bigodi Swamps for more primates, birds and antelopes like statungas. Dinner & overnight at Mountains of the moon hotel.
Day 6: Transfer to Semilik National Park
Breakfast and transfer to Semliki National park, enjoy a game drive and a walk to Sempiya Hot springs. Return to Fort portal in the evening for dinner and overnight at Mountains of the moon hotel.
Day 7: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Breakfast at the hotel and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National park, following the foothills of the mystical Rwenzori Mountains. Enjoy an enroute game drive to see herds of elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, warthogs and many more, arrive in time for lunch at Mweya safari lodge, later proceed for a boat cruise on the Kazinga channel. You will be rewarded with views of the lakes Edward and George, Hippos, yawning crocodiles, several water birds like cormorants and flamingos among the rest. Retire to Mweya Safari Lodge.
Day 8: Game drive &Chimp trekking in Kyambura gorge.
In the morning after breakfast, go for a morning game drive in the Kasenyi plains which is such an exciting adventure. Here you may see the dark and hairy forest giant hogs, leopards, warthogs, large herds of elephants, Defassa waterbuck, and bush baby among others. Overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge.
Day 9: Tree climbing Lions and Transfer to Bwindi
Enjoy another game drive through Ishasha sector for tree-climbing lions, later connect to Bwindi national park. Check-in Gorilla Mist Lodge for dinner & overnight.
Day 10: Mountain gorilla trekking in Bwindi.
Gorilla trekking is done in the mornings so you will have to rise up early and begin trekking. Check out the silverback. In the evening you may travel to the Batwa community or take a nature walk to Munyanja river trail and check out the waterfalls. Return to Gorilla Mist lodge for dinner & overnight.
Day 11: Transfer to Rwanda
Have breakfast at the lodge and embark on another scenic drive through the rolling beautiful hills of Kigezi region (The Switzerland of Africa) to Kisoro town, the proceed to the Chanika border, enter Rwanda and have Enroute visit to the beautiful twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo. Dinner and Overnight at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge on the foothills of the Virunga mountains.
Day 12: Gorilla or Golden Monkey trekking in Volcanoes Park and transfer to Kigali
Get up early to prepare for either gorilla or golden monkey trekking. Take breakfast and proceed to searching for these unique creatures in the highland forest.
Alternatively, we can choose to visit Dian Foseey Tombs near Karisoke research center, nestled between the beautiful peaks of Vishoke and Karisimbi.
Return to the lodge for lunch and transfer to Kigali city, Rwanda’s capital. Dinner and overnight at Mille Colline Hotel in Kigali.
Day 13: Kigali city tour – Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi Exploration
Breakfast at the hotel and proceed for a tour to Gisozi Genocide memorial museum, local art and craft shops. Lunch in Kigali, relax for some minutes and leave for Lake Bunyonyi in Kabale through Katuna boarder. Relax in the evening at Arcadia cottages overlooking the shores of Lake Bunyonyi.
Day 14: Salt lick in Lake Mburo.
After taking your breakfast, enjoy a morning canoe ride to visit different Islands on lake Bunyonyi, enjoy the beauty of the place, bird life is prolific!! Later, transfer to Lake Mburo National park, arrive in time for lunch and proceed for a nature walk to the salt lick area. Dinner and overnight at Arcadia cottages.
Day 15: Departure for Kampala.
Wake up early for a game drive through the park, expect an encounter with antelopes like Impala, topi, elands, statungas and Zebras among others. You can also take up quad biking (at an extra fee), later, drive back to Kampala with en-route stop at the Equator, overnight at your Hotel.
