Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up Kigali city tour, Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Pick up from Kigali International Airport on arrival, or from your hotel in Kigali after breakfast, start with a a visit to Gisozi genocide memorial museum, lunch and transfer to Volcanoes National Park, viewing spectacular scenery of the Virunga Mountains en route. Dinner and overnight stay at Virunga lodge, Sabyinyo Silverback lodge, Hotel Gorillas, Le Bambou Gorilla lodge, Hotel La Palme / Mountain Gorilla View Lodge.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking adventure, Culture walk or Nature walk
Breakfast and head to the park headquarters with packed lunch and water for a briefing about the dos and don’ts while with the gorillas then proceed to track the gorillas. Time take searching for these Gentle giants ranges between 2 to 8 hours depending on the movement of gorillas. Retire for lunch, relax as we wait for an evening excursion to the beautiful Twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo, or visit Iby’Iwacu cultural village or Musanze caves exploration or take a community walk to Musanze local market and interact with local people. You can also choose to visit Orphanage or local schools. Dinner and overnight stay at your respective lodges on day 1.
Day 3: Golden Monkey Tracking / fly to Nairobi Kenya
After breakfast, you will go to track the golden monkeys in the bamboo forest. Other optional activities include adventurous hike to Dian fossey tombs, Mt. Vishoke hiking. Return to the lodge for lunch and leave for Kigali, depending on your scheduled departure flight, you may visit local art and craft shops, do last minute shopping before heading to the airport, dinner and overnight in Nairobi.
Day 4: Connect to Masaimara National Park
Breakfast at your hotel, connect to Wilson Airport for your scheduled morning or afternoon flight to Maasai Mara. The flight is approximately 45 minutes to Olkiombo Airstrip in Mara.
Upon arrival at the airstrip, you will be welcomed by a driver/ tour guide who will transfer you to Kempinski with game drive enroute. Lunch and take a late afternoon game drive or enjoy other activities offered at the camp, dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Game drive and Hot Air Balloon
You will set out just before sunrise in search of game as you enjoy the richness of the Park’s wildlife and endless savannah. From your room you may be privileged to hear the birds singing and will certainly be captivated just to overlook the Mara plains.
Olare Orok Conservancy is surrounded by an abundance of wildlife, and clients are spoilt with choice and can choose from various activities such as a hot air balloon, visit to Maasai Manyatta or just soaking up in the sun as you swim.
In between your morning and afternoon game drive you will have ample time to relax and enjoy the ambiance at your luxury tented camp ending the day with unforgettable sundowners.
Day 6: Departure
Start early with a cup of tea or coffee and then proceed for a final morning game drive, after which you will be catching your return flight to Nairobi’s Wilson Airport. Your safari ends upon arrival at Wilson. Should you wish to extend your stay feel free to contact us for a special price.
