Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up Kigali – city tour- Cross to Uganda
After breakfast, we shall pick you from your Hotel in Kigali, then city tour to visit the Gisozi genocide memorial site, Local art and craft shops, and fruit markets and so on. After lunch, we cross the border to Uganda’s home of mountain Gorillas – Bwindi impenetrable national park. The journey will take us through the majestic rolling hills that characterize much of Rwanda, enter Uganda through Katuna border, proceed through rolling hills, deep valleys and winding roads of the Kigezi Hills, famously known as “the Switzerland of Africa”, check-in Nkuringo Gorilla Camp, Gorilla Mist Camp, Gift of Nature Lodge OR Wagtail Eco Safari Camp relax in the evening with a breathtaking view of the forest.
Day 2: Gorilla tracking – Return to Kigali
Breakfast is followed by a briefing and then, join your fellow trackers and head up the slopes of the Forest to visit one of the habituated groups of gorillas. The trek is quite strenuous, so you should be able to hike for 2-8 hours on steep mountain trails before meeting gorillas camouflaged in thick vegetation. Enjoy their view and take photographs for a maximum of one hour. Return to the lodge for late lunch and hit the road back to Kigali for dinner and overnight at Kigali Serena Hotel, Hotel Des Mille Colline, Manor Hotel, Chez Lando Hotel OR Step Town Hotel.
Day 3: Fly to Kenya- Nairobi
After breakfast, we shall transfer you to Kigali International Airport for your flight to Nairobi. Lunch, relax at Nairobi Serena Hotel, The Sarova Stanley, Sankara Nairobi, The Heron Portico OR Hilton Nairobi as you wait for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Transfer to Masai Mara National Park
After breakfast, we shall transfer to the Masai Mara National park. The journey will take us to the heart of Masai Mara wildlife reserve which the home to all the big 5 wild animals: Lion, Elephant, Buffalo, Rhino and Cheetah with cubs Leopard and a variety of special birds. Lunch will be en route and then proceed to the park with en-route game drive. Relax at the lodge as we wait for dinner and overnight at Mara Sopa Lodge, Kicheche Bush Camp, Mara Siria Tented Camp, Maji Moto Eco Camp, Dorobo Bush Camp OR Kandili Camp.
Day 5: Full Day Game Drive in Masai Mara Game Reserve
A full day is spent at the Masai Mara game reserve. Driving across the plains in search of the big cats (black manned lions, Cheetahs and leopards with picnic lunch served at the Mara River site. Vast herds of wildebeest and zebra wander across the Mara grasslands in huge numbers during this period of the annual migrations take place, when millions of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle traverse the Mara plains landscape to feed on the rich new grass from the Serengeti. You also have a chance to see other plain game like the Topi, heartbeats, Eland. Dinner and overnight as previously.
Day 6: Early morning Game drive – Back to Nairobi City
We shall wake up very early for the game drive to catch up with the early raisers returning to their hiding places, then transfer to Nairobi Airport for your flight back home.
